TONGUETIE SYMPTOMS / FEEDING DIFFICULTIES

Feeding problems and Tonguetie symptoms can be few or many. Significant or mild. Managed with feeding support and or cranial osteopathy and or Tonguetie assessment and division, problems can improve. 


Symptoms can  include painful latch for mother, pinched nipples sometimes described as lipstick shaped, blocked ducts, engorgement, possible mastitis.  

 

For baby : symptoms can include slipping off, unable to sustain a deep latch, noisy feeds, biting with the gums, clicking noises during feeding, dribbling during a feed, difficult to wind, lots of wind, frequent feeds, sleepy feeds, long feeds, ( over 45 mins ) , narrow or small mouth, fussy and frustrated when latching, unable to extend, turn or lift their tongue. A heart shaped tip of tongue. Slow weight gain, weight loss.
